leave a comment »

DUE this Monday / Tuesday at beginning of class:  Preliminary ideas for each high-rise group.  (written ideas and/or sketches – to be exhibited and discussed in class).

We have begun our high-rise design process with the following steps:

1.  Researched examples of high-rise design (images posted on wall in studio).
2.  Divided up into high-rise groups of 3 or 2 students each.
3.  Begun discussion about how Public/Private partnerships can offer new patterns in high-rise neighborhoods.
4.  You have been given a generic site for now: 250’x250′ buildable area, centered on a 300’x300′ block.  No height limit.

DUE BEGINNING OF CLASS MON/TUES:
IDEAS.

5. You have been asked to show progress as a group in exploring what a “Neighborhood-In-The-Sky” could be utilizing the idea of Public / Private partnerships, similar to current horizontal city neighborhoods.  This is a quick brainstorming exercise.
