leave a comment »

Please come by the Datum Engineers Design Studio (3rd floor, ECJ) to see the completed solar facade model recently installed in the Seminar Room 3.104A.

A big thank you to the CAEE department for supporting this project, and to all 33 of our ARE320K ArchE students and TA Rachel Schutte for design/build of this project last week.

Goals of design project:
– To create an example of a full-scale E/W solar facade.
– To provide semi-privacy to the Datum Lab conference room adjacent to elevator lobby.
– To provide an object of visual interest / play of light.
– Built by 33 students, this project requires collaboration, organization and problem solving that engages all students in the construction of a single, full-scale object.
