Here’s the job description for the co-op position. The position is from June/Dec 2014 and will be in our Houston location. We are looking to interview students immediately. I really appreciate your help.

The Baker Engineering and Risk Consultants (BakerRisk) Protective Structures section is seeking qualified students for a full-time student internship position for the Houston location. Job tasks include assisting engineers with blast protection analysis and design projects from their beginning to their conclusion, including:
· Proposal writing

o Assist with drafting proposals and/or performing peer review

· Dynamic blast analysis of buildings

o Construct models for structural components

o Construct component and building damage curves

· Design of upgrades to deficient building components

o Develop conceptual upgrades to mitigate explosion/thermal risk

o Develop sketches and/or drawing packages

· Design of new buildings

· Forensic investigation of building damage from accidental blast events

· Cost estimation

· Report writing

o Assist with drafting reports and/or performing peer review

· Development of presentations

On the job training expected. Experience with Sketchup is preferred. Most analysis and design will utilize the single-degree-of-freedom methodology. Basic knowledge of structural analysis is required. Engineering design courses are preferred including reinforced concrete, structural steel, and masonry but not required. Seeking self-motivated, enthusiastic individual willing to learn and ask questions. The internship duration is 6 months minimum.
