Tour: Austin Bergstrom International Airport

leave a comment »

On Saturday April 21, students were given the opportunity to tour the Austin Bergstrom International Airport with Chuck Naeve, PE.  Mr. Naeve was the structural engineer of the airport, and discussed in detail the concepts and solutions for the design of the airport structure.  The large trusses supporting the roof were of particular interest in how they resolved architectural concepts, lateral loads and gravity loads.
Special thanks to Chuck Naeve, PE, principal of Architectural Engineers Collaborative in Austin.
